Ohio Board of Regents
 
The Ohio Board of Regents, a nine-member advisory board to the chancellor with two ex-officio representatives from the state legislature, was created in 1963 by the general assembly. Members of the Board of Regents are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Responsibilities of the board include developing an independent annual report on the condition of higher education in the Ohio, and for advising the chancellor on issues of statewide importance affecting higher education.

The Board of Regents also oversees the University System of Ohio, one of the largest comprehensive public systems of higher education in the nation. Ohio's public colleges, universities, and adult education programs serve almost 600,000 students and offer every option from a GED to a Ph.D., ensuring that all Ohioans have easy access to a high-quality, affordable higher education. The System includes:

* 14 universities with 24 regional branch campuses
* 23 community colleges
* Over 120 adult workforce education and training centers statewide
