Columbus Metropolitan Club - 9-12-2018 - To Ticket Tax or Not

Earlier this year, a 7% ticket tax was proposed in the City of Columbus; 70% of the revenue would go to funding the arts in Columbus and the remaining 30% would fund maintenance at Nationwide Arena.

Under the proposal, tickets for events such as professional sports, concerts, movies, and other culture events would be taxed. This includes concerts at Ohio Stadium and Nationwide Arena, Blue Jackets and Clippers games, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and events held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. (High schools and colleges are exempt.)

To discuss this topic and answer audience questions, CMC welcomes Jim Lorimer, Co-Founder of the Arnold Sports Festival, Tom Katzenmeyer, President & CEO of the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and host Mary Yost, Editorial Page Editor at The Columbus Dispatch.
