Columbus Museum of Art: Currents - Jason Salavon

Jason Salavon is an artist at the forefront of emerging digital practices, creating innovative work that merges art and information technology. His art is mined from the familiar products of our age: Population surveys, wedding photographs, Hollywood movies, corporate sales reports. By compiling and reconfiguring these seemingly random manifestations of popular culture, he unearths uncanny patterns and meaningful structures lurking within the visual and statistical chaos that surrounds us. The captivating photographs, videos, and multimedia installations that he generates from such ubiquitous sources provide us with fresh perspectives on our everyday environment. CURRENTS: Jason Salavon surveys the artist's career to date, while tracing his process in creating a new body of work for his exhibition at the Columbus Museum of Art.
