Cornerstones: - African Americans, The

Cornerstones

"The African Americans" recognizes many prominent individuals who became leaders in the community as a whole -- Ella P. Stewart, the first practicing black pharmacist in the country; LeMaxie Glover, a nationally-recognized sculptor who taught art in the Toledo Public Schools; and Art Tatum, the legendary jazz musician fom Toledo. The program includes recollections from more contemporary Toledo leaders, including retired Judge Robert Franklin, Reverend Robert Culp and former Toledo Public Schools Superintendent Crystal Ellis.
