Governor John Kasich - Ribbon Cutting for New Fitness Center at Liberty Schools
Governor Kasich joins fitness expert Jake Seinfeld to cut the ribbon, opening a new fitness center for the Liberty Schools. Principal Melissa Malone and Superintendent Stan Watson of the Liberty Schools, welcome the governor and Mr. Seinfeld on stage in front of a full house of excited students.
Jake Seinfeld is the Chairman of Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils and it's mission is to build a nation of the fittest, healthiest kids in the world. Physical activity and exercise are shown to help prevent and treat more than 40 chronic diseases, enhance individual health and quality of life, and reduce health care costs. In schools, studies show that physical activity improves academic achievement, increases confidence and self-esteem, reduces discipline problems, cuts absenteeism, and fosters better interpersonal relationships.
Through the National Fitness Champion campaign, the plan is to award fitness centers to schools in all 50 states. An attractive and unique feature of this campaign is that the fitness centers are fully funded through public/private partnerships with companies like Coca-Cola, Anthem-Blue Cross Blue Shield and Nike, and does not rely on taxpayer dollars or state funding.
