Governor and First Lady Strickland light their first Ohio Statehouse Holiday Tree at 5:41 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2007. This is the 92nd annual Ohio Statehouse Holiday Tree Lighting event.
The short tree lighting ceremony includes music provided by Vaud Villities and the Salvation Army Band. Governor and Mrs. Strickland welcome visitors and usher in the holiday season by flipping the switch to light the official Statehouse holiday tree. Governor Strickland then commands the firing of a Civil War era cannon which signals the simultaneous lighting of the buildings surrounding Capitol Square.
