Edwin George of Kent is a painter who shares his Cherokee culture and mythology. Born in North Carolina in 1934, George took up painting in 1991.

Doug Unger of Peninsula (between Akron and Cleveland) has earned international renown as a builder of musical instruments. His designs are based on mandolins and banjos made late 19th, early 20th century.

Carolyn Mazloomi of West Chester is an advocate for the community of African-American quilters. In 1986, she established the Women of Color Quilters Network with 10 members. The Network now has 1,800 members nationwide, and over 4,000 members in 23 chapters outside the U.S.
