Capitol Ohio

Description
The foundation walls of the Ohio Statehouse were laid in 1839, but the building was not completed until 1861. The cornerstone, an ordinary-looking block in the foundation, was difficult to locate after the restoration of the 1990s and should not be confused with the date stone on the outside of the Statehouse.

00:00:20The cornerstone was put down in 1839 and it was 22 years later in 1861

00:00:29These foundation walls, like the rest of the blocks in the building,
00:00:32are Columbus limestone quarried from an area about three miles away.
00:00:38The stone was brought to this site by a temporary rail service built
