Press Conference

Description
State Senator Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) holds a press conference to announce legislation to reform Ohio's jail system.

The proposal highlights Sean's Law, a bill to require that Ohio jails have protocols in place when they admit inmates who are at risk of withdrawal from drugs, alcohol and/or prescription benzodiazepines, such as Xanax, Ativan and Valium. The bill is named after R&B singer Sean Levert, who died in Cuyahoga County Jail in 2008 from complications caused by being denied his prescribed medication, Xanax.

speakers include:
Senator Nickie J. Antonio
Members of Sean Levert's family
