Media Parking And Regulations

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) works to protect the Statehouse building and grounds while providing easy access for the news media. Please use the following information for your convenience and for the protection of this historic property.

Engineering Truck Parking
Marked engineering trucks and vans weighing 5 tons or under are welcome to park on the sidewalk on the High Street (West) side of the Statehouse. As a courtesy to your colleagues, these areas may be used for parking only when covering events in the Statehouse, Senate Building or on the grounds.

Please do not drive over curbs. Use handicapped access ramps at the corners of State and High Streets and Broad and High Streets to drive on and off the sidewalks. Please do not drag or rub cabling against retaining walls, pillars or statuary as it leaves black marks that your news outlet will be charged the cost to remove.

News stations using trucks that weigh more than 5 tons, should notify Gregg Dodd or Mike Rupert in the Statehouse Communications Department in advance so special parking may be arranged.

Media truck parking is not permitted on the sidewalks in front of the Senate Building including Third Street, Broad Street or State Street. Special arrangements may be made to allow media parking in the bus loading zone by contacting the Statehouse Communications Office.

News Passenger Vehicle Parking
The Statehouse parking garage staff will make every effort to allow access to marked news vehicles in the Statehouse underground parking garage even when the "Full" sign is lighted at the garage entry. Vehicles less than 6 feet 6 inches in height may park in the garage. You may use your news station’s plastic garage charge card to bill the station or pay cash for parking fees.
