Parking Options for Your Guests in the Statehouse Garage

Providing convenient and affordable parking for guests attending an event downtown can sometimes be a challenge. The Statehouse underground garage provides parking options for individuals and organizations that host special events at the Ohio Statehouse. Consult with a member of the Special Events team to obtain tips on scheduling your event to coincide with hours that parking is readily available.

Special Events Parking Options

Tokenotes Tokenotes are pre-printed coupons that cost $2 each. A Statehouse event host may purchase them to allow event guests to park in the Underground Garage at the hosts' expense. They may also be used to defray the cost of a guest's parking when attending an event at the Statehouse. They may be distributed to guests in advance or when guests are leaving your event. Guests simply use them as they would use money when exiting the Statehouse Underground garage.

Tokenotes may be used at any time on any day. They can be purchased at the Statehouse Museum Shop or through your Statehouse Special Events liaison.

U-Name-It Coupons

These coupons allow an event host to subsidize the parking cost for guests of an evening or weekend reception, dinner or u-name-it. The host pays only for coupons that are used. So, if you send out 200 coupons with your invitations to a dinner program and only 100 use the garage, you pay for 100.

The purchaser pays for all or a portion of the parking cost of those attending your activity. The minimum for payment of a portion of guest parking is $1 off your guest's exit price. E-mail Blenda Chapman at bchapman@csrab.state.oh.us or call 614/728-2564 for more information.

Valet Parking

The Statehouse Special Events team is able to provide valet parking options for guests of your special event. Staff members will work with you and contracted professionals to assess and carry out your valet parking needs.

Be Flexible for Better Parking

The Ohio Statehouse offers everyday convenient and affordable parking for visitors doing government business, tourists and guests attending events. The garage is often filled to capacity during normal business hours; especially on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays when the Ohio Legislature is in session. After 4:30 p.m. on any weekday the garage begins to empty.

To better provide your guests with convenient and affordable underground parking at the Statehouse, you may wish to be flexible in scheduling your event. Consider these timing options:

Hold your event on an evening or weekend.
Conduct your luncheon on a Monday or Friday.
Move your afternoon reception from 3 p.m. to begin at 5 p.m. for better parking availability for guests.
Schedule your event during the summer months or between Thanksgiving and the end of January when Statehouse business tends to be lighter.
