Statehouse Tours

Welcome

Welcome to Capitol Square, a complex that includes the Ohio Statehouse, Senate Building and Atrium. The buildings are not only working government offices but magnificent monuments to the people and the period during which Ohio's democracy was founded and formed. The Statehouse is handicapped accessible and senior friendly.

The Ohio Statehouse is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free guided tours are offered Monday through Friday on the hour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 3 p.m. Tours depart from the 3rd Street Information Desk. Tours are approximately 45 minutes in length. Groups of 10 or more are requested to call 614/728-2695 in advance to ensure a guide is available for your group.

Free Guided Tours Daily

Self-Guided & Audio Wand Tours

Visitors may wander on their own anytime during Statehouse hours with a self-guided tour brochure or borrow a tour wand with pre-recorded information to follow at your own pace. Self guided tour brochures and tour wands are available at the 3rd Street Information Desk. While the use of tour wands is free, we ask that an I.D. be left with the Information Officer during your tour.

Sculpture Cell Phone Audio Tours

The Statehouse has introduced cell phone audio tours to enhance the visitor experience. Visitors may explore the 10 acres of Statehouse grounds and dial in on their cell phone to specific predetermined phone numbers and listen to descriptions about the monuments and sculpture. Look for the audio tour signs at the base of each sculpture and monument. No fees for you - only your air time minutes.
