The Remarkable Ohio search allows you to search by specific field. For instance, you can search for markers within a specific zip code or you can search
for markers with the phrase "Ohio Historical Society" in the text of the marker. Each field you fill out will narrow your search. For example,
if you enter "Ohio Historical Society" in the text field and "Franklin" in the county field, all markers in Franklin county which contain the
exact phrase "Ohio Historical Society" in the marker text will be returned. You can fill out as many or as few fields as desired.
Quoting Terms
By placing quotation marks ("") around a group of words you can specify to return only those markers containing
that exact phrase. For example, if you enter "Indiana Territory", only markers containing the exact
phrase "Indiana Territory" will be returned. On the other hand, if you enter Indiana Territory
(without the quotation marks) all
markers containing the word Indiana or the word Territory will be returned. This results in
many more markers listed.
Boolean Searches
Boolean searches are a mechanism for creating searches with even greater control. For example, you can specify that you would like to
view all markers which include keywords 'Ohio' but do not include 'State' or you could search for all markers which include 'Settler' and
'Historical Society' but not 'Franklin'. To submit a Boolean search, enter your Boolean string in the Keywords text field, then within Keyword
Options select 'Boolean Search'. The following are examples of how to construct a boolean search :

Example : Settler or Franklin - Returns all markers which contain either the word "Settler" or the word "Franklin"
And
Example : Franklin and Settler - Returns all markers which contain the word "Franklin" and the word "Settler". If only one of the
words is included, nothing is returned
Not
Example : Not Settler - Returns every marker which does not contain the word "Settler"
Grouping Terms
In addition to the above options, you may also group terms.
Example : ("Historical Society" or Franklin) and Not Settler - Returns every marker which contains "Historical Society" or "Franklin", but does not contain "Settler"
