This company is developing 80% electrically efficient Direct Carbon Fuel Cells into batteries with 30 times the energy density of lithium-ion batteries, and produce distributed 5kW-100MW power at 6-8 cents/kWh. This technology was developed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and is being transferred to and commercialized in Ohio. The investments obtained by the Contined Energy allow the early-stage company to produce its alpha-prototypes. Contained Energy has gained assistance from Edison Centers CAMP and EMTEC in finding suppliers, and has also taken advantage of the Ohio Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) program. Contained Energy will be creating 3 new high paying-jobs by January 2007 and start generating revenue in 2008.
Reservoir Venture Partners and Early Stage Partners, two participants in the Ohio Department of Development's Seed and Early Stage Grant Program funded AxioMed Spine in early 2003. Since that time, AxioMed has secured over $24M in private equity financing from prestigious venture capitalists.
