This forum will connect 100+ community members with information and an opportunity to speak directly to legislators who control the state's purse strings. We will focus on the two parts of the budget that have been attracting the most attention: local government funds and K-12 education. SB 5 is a crucial piece of context for both conversations.
The 90-minute forum will unfold in two parts: the first half devoted to the potential impact of the proposed budget, and the second to a dialogue with legislators about these issues. While both segments will be moderated, we will put the focus on audience questions as much as possible. We will discuss underlying issues (how we got here) and alternatives to the governor's proposals. We will also have a Politifact squad from the Plain Dealer (Mark Naymik, Joe Guillen, and Aaron Marshall) on hand to field any questions or facts in need of checking.
Confirmed panelists include Mayor Dave Gillock of North Ridgeville, Anthony Podojilof the Alliance for High Quality Education, State Senator Nina Turner (D-25) and State Senator Tim Grendell (R-18).
