Responding to Financial Exploitation, Scams and Fraud in Facility Settings
Financial abuse of residents in a nursing home or assisted living can have devastating effects on Ohio's older generation. To help address the issue and protect older Ohioans from fraud and abuse, the Ohio Attorney General's Elder Abuse Commission presented a virtual public forum on February 23, 2022, for older adults, their families and caregivers. Experts provided information on how to protect yourself or your loved ones, including learning the warning signs of financial exploitation and how to report it to your local and state authorities so they can take action.
If you suspect an older person is being abused, contact your local law enforcement agency or county Job and Family Services office. For more information, call the Ohio Attorney General's Elder Justice Unit at 800-282-0515.
