Description
This weekend, rapper Childish Gambino released his new song "This Is America" and the accompanying music video. The video contains multiple layers that speak to the black experience in America and the influence that black artists have.

Gambino's release is another entry in the long list of accomplishments made by black artists in just the past few months, from Beyonce headlining Coachella to Kendrick Lamar winning a Pulitzer for his album DAMN.

Join us today as we discuss the influence hip-hop and rap music has on today's culture.

Guests:
Dr. Treva Lindsey, professor of African-American women's history, The Ohio State University
Josh Miller, promoter, co-founder and organizer of 2x2 Hip-Hop Festival in Columbus
Vada Azeem, national songwriter, visual artist, and activist, based in Columbus
