In an op-ed published in the Charleston Gazette-Mail on Sunday, West Virginia's Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin explained why he would vote against his own party and its sweeping voting rights bill called the For the People Act.
Manchin ended speculation about whether he would support reform of or ending the filibuster. His opposition to the For the People Act sounded a virtual death knell for the effort to end-run GOP-controlled states looking to challenge or invalidate election results they find unfavorable.
