This is your Legislative Update for the week of March 2nd.

In the Ohio Senate, House Bill 7 passed. Sponsored by Representative Buchy, this bill prohibits the use of certain elementary and secondary achievement assessments from the 2014-2015 school year, to determine promotion or retention or to grant course credit.

The Ohio Senate presented 2 resolutions during the week of March 2nd.

In the Ohio House of Representatives, Substitute House Bill 53 passed. Sponsored by Representative Grossman, this bill makes appropriations for programs related to transportation and public safety. House Bill 31 also passed. Sponsored by Representatives Grossman and Stinziano, House Bill 31 designates "Hang on Sloopy" as the Official State Rock Song. Sponsored by Representatives Sprague and Rezabek, Substitute House Bill 4 passed. This bill makes changes regardings the authority to furnish or dispense Naloxone to a person who may be at risk of an opioid overdose.
