William Mallory (D) of Cincinnati served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1967-1994. Eight years after he was first elected, Mallory became the majority floor leader, the first African American to do so. He retired in 1994 as the longest-serving majority floor leader in the house and the longest-serving representative from Hamilton County.
