The Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission hosts the 2024 Statewide MLK Oratorical Contest April 11.

Students in grades kindergarten through 12 compete in four grade-based categories. The students give original speeches inspired by the legacy of Dr. King based on the 2025 theme, "Honoring the Legacy, Uniting for the Future". The participants advanced from regional contests throughout the state. The winners of each category will be invited to speak at the 2026 Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration in January 2026 in downtown Columbus.
