COLUMBUS - House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington), Senate Assistant Minority Whip Tina Maharath (D-Canal Winchester), and Reps. Shayla Davis (D-Garfield Heights), Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati), Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) and Monique Smith (D-Fairview Park) will host a press conference on Tuesday, May 24 at 1 p.m. in the Ladies Gallery at the Ohio Statehouse to discuss their plan to support newborn babies and families.
The legislative package includes bills to:
Eliminate the diaper tax;
Create the Infant Formula Tax Credit;
Establish the Ohio Safe Sleep and Baby Box Program;
Require insurance coverage of medically necessary donor human milk;
Create the Infant Nutrition Protection Act;
Enact the Ohio Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
Democrats' comprehensive plan invests in families to ensure all newborns have the resources they need to thrive. The plan to help ease everyday costs for families is more important than ever amid nationwide shortages for products such as infant formula.
