All Sides with Ann Fisher - 5-10-2023 A - Senior activism

Play

Activism is typically associated with youth. But in March, senior citizens were at the forefront of a highly visible nationwide protest against big banks for their financial support of the fossil fuel industry.

That moment shed light on a lesser-known force for change, that of older Americans who bring a lifetime of experience, and connections to the table.

We discuss how older Americans fit into the mosaic of activism in the 2020s, how they've earned their chops and how they are valued among the ranks working to make the world a better place.

Guests:

Bill McKibben, environmentalist and founder, Third Act
Lynne Iser, president of the Elder Action Network
Cathy Levine, former co-president of B.R.E.A.D. (Building Responsibility, Equality and Dignity)
