Columbus Metropolitan Club - Headlines from the Breadlines: Evolution in Human Services

Play

It's certainly not news that nonprofits of every size, shape and service have had to regroup, collaborate, adjust services offered and, in some rare cases, close their doors during this downturn in the economy. Clearly there is an evolution for many businesses and nonprofits, too, are realizing that they may need to adopt new "business models" for survival and success. Many nonprofits are turning to innovative means of earning income in an environment where philanthropic dollars are stretched. Many are partnering with similar organizations, while others are evaluating mergers and consolidated services. Considered by many to be one of the most successful and creative nonprofit executives in Columbus, Chuck Gehring, CEO of Lifecare Alliance, assesses the current situation in our community and discusses strategies that he and other executives and boards are using to become more effective and efficient. What's ahead for the nonprofit sector and how are nonprofits evolving to improve their well being to assure the community of continued service for years to come?
