Cathe Kobacker, community activist
Dianne Radigan, Children's Hunger Alliance
Jackie Royster, OSU College of Arts and Science
Moderated by: Cindy Lazarus, YWCA Columbus

Inspired and touched by her recognition as a YWCA Woman of Achievement in 2004, Cathe Kobacker found herself asking: "But what can I do to make a difference?" She posed this question to fellow honorees Dianne Radigan and Jackie Royster.

The answer led these three giving women on a journey of discovery to sub-Saharan South Africa. The statistics they found were shocking. Each day 6,500 to 8,500 people die from AIDS and 1,400 children and 1,500 adults become infected with HIV.

On their adventure, Kobacker challenged her companions to create an action plan to have an impact on the devastating AID and HIV in the region. Producer Janet Parrot of OSU, led a documentary crew that accompanied the women. A portion of the documentary will highlight their personal story at the CMC forum.

Strong activist in Columbus, Kobacker has invested more than two decades in the compassionate work of community hospice efforts. Her passion and focus have taken her around the world to study best practices of care for people facing terminal illness.

As Chief Operating Officer of Children's Hunger Alliance, Dianne Radigan works tirelessly to help people break the cycle of hunger and poverty.

Jackie Royster is renowned educator recognized for her focus on African American women literary scholars, writers and educators. As Senior Vice President Provost and Executive Dean of the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences and Professor of English at OSU, her work includes involvement in five books and more than 50 articles
