Legislative Update - February 3 - February 7, 2014

This program gives Ohioans a weekly update on legislation brought up for third consideration in the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives during the week of February 3rd.

The Ohio Senate passed Substitute House Bill 202, sponsored by Representative Blessing, modifying licensing laws that apply to professional engineers and surveyors.

Also passed was Substitute Senate Bill 192, sponsored by Senator Manning, granting the Director of Agriculture exclusive authority to regulate invasive plant species.

Substitute Senate Bill 245 also passed this week. Sponsored by Senator Coley and Senator Seitz, this bill designates four new memorial highways in Butler, Hamilton, and Warren counties, and revises the endpoint of an existing memorial highway.

The Ohio Senate presented several resolutions during the week of February 3rd.

Senator LaRose recognized Detective Larry S. Brown, Deputy Danny E. Francis, Deputy Larry J. Peters and Deputy Shane W. Smith of the Summit County Sheriff's Office for receiving the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Shield of Bravery.

Senator Balderson recognized Lloyd Barnes for his service to the community and as a member of the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame.

Senators Balderson and Schaffer recognized Sarah Morris as Ohio's Best Bagger for 2013.

The Ohio House of Representatives did not meet during the week of February 3rd.
