Legislative Update - March 10 - March 14, 2014 Short
 
 
This program gives Ohioans a weekly update on legislation brought up for third consideration in the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives for the week of March 10th.

The Ohio Senate passed Substitute House Bill 107, sponsored by Representative Baker, authorizing the Development Services Agency to award grants to businesses that employ high school students in career exploration internships.

Also passed this week was Amended Senate Bill 99. Sponsored by Senator Oeslager and Senator Tavares, this bill amends sections of the revised code regarding insurance and Medicaid coverage for orally administered cancer medications.

Substitute Senate Bill 261 also passed, sponsored by Senators Bacon and Manning, relative to the enforcement of protection orders and violation of protection order terms.

In the Ohio House of Representatives, Senate Bill 226, sponsored by Senator Beagle, passed this week, designating a portion of State Route 41 in Miami County as the "Sheriff's Sgt. Robert 'Bobby' Elliott Memorial Highway."

Also passed was House Bill 367. Sponsored by Representatives Sprague and Driehaus, this bill requires the health curriculum of each school district to include instruction in prescription opioid abuse prevention.

Sponsored by Representative Smith, Substitute House Bill 341 passed this week, establishing requirements to be followed by prescribers in reviewing patient information in the State Board of Pharmacy's Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System.

Substitute House Bill 382 also passed this week, sponsored by Representative Duffey and Representative Bishoff, revising the procedures and penalties governing the towing of motor vehicles under certain circumstances.

Substitute House Bill 408 also passed. This bill, sponsored by Representatives Sears and Amstutz, authorizes an income tax credit for donations to the permanent endowment fund of an eligible community foundation.

The Ohio House presented several resolutions during the week of March 10th.
