NW Ohio Journal - February Floods

This program examines the devastating floods in Northwest and Central
Ohio. Both the August and February floods were costly. Tied for the area's worst flood in recorded history, the August flood left many residents homeless and resulted in hundreds of buildings damaged in Hancock County alone.

The February floods hit just as residents were recovering from the August floods. What are the lessons learned? And what can and will we do to prevent flooding from occurring again?

Moderator Larry Weiss, retired Associate Vice President for University Relations and Governmental Affairs at Bowling Green State University,
will be joined in the WBGU-PBS studio by Hancock County Commissioner Ed Ingold, Ottawa Community Development Director Jeff Loehrke and Chief Executive Officer of the Northwest Ohio Flood Mitigation Partnership and former mayor of Findlay Tony Iriti.
