Ohio Channel Presents - Finding SOLACE

Play

SOLACE is an acronym for Surviving Our Loss and Continuing Everyday. The mission of this group is to reach people who have lost loved ones to drugs, to help the addicted make changes to their lives and to prevent future pain in the addict and family members.

Hear the stories of people just like you who have been affected by prescription drug misuse. Alex G. is a decorated war veteran who was prescribed Oxycontin after he was injured by an explosive device in Afghanistan. Cole Smoot was a popular high school student when he decided to try just one pill, one time. Leslie Cooper underwent countless surgeries throughout her lifetime and struggled with drug addiction. Wes Workman's mother founded SOLACE after his devastating battle with prescription drugs.

The SOLACE Ohio Network has been organized:
-To develop support groups for individuals and families grieving a loved one who died as a result of addiction.
-To promote public awareness about addiction and recovery from addiction and eliminate the stigma surrounding the issue.
-To develop recovery support through collaboration with the recovery community and communities at large.
-To provide prevention services, especially to children and adolescents.
