The State of Ohio - Jim Traficant

This new year - 2010 - is a huge year in Ohio politics - with the governor's office, a US Senate seat, and the entire Ohio House and a third of the state Senate on the ballot. There are some Congressional seats that have been targeted by both parties. And now, a former congressman who's out of prison says he's looking at running in one of two districts in northeast Ohio that are expected to be easy wins for the incumbents. Jim Traficant says he plans to run for the US House of Representatives as a ex-con - ex congressman and ex-convict. More from Jim Traficant on next week's show.

The state's budget struggle dominated 2009, and the fight went down to the wire in the Senate. But many have said that the challenges with this budget are nothing compared to what is coming, with the economy unlikely to recover to the point where revenues can replace the one-time federal dollars used in this spending plan. Senate President Bill Harris, a Republican from Ashland, and Minority Leader Capri Cafaro, a Democrat from Hubbard near Youngstown, look back on 2009 and look ahead to what's next.
