Artzine - Canstruction

On this edition of ArtZine, an exclusive interview with Mindy Shapero and Jockum Nordstrom, two modern artists who have come together in a one of a kind exhibition at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Both artists tell open-ended stories through graphite drawings, paper sculptures and cut-out collages.

History and art meet in the lens of local Columbus photographer, Kojo Kamau. He has spent his career looking at the African diaspora experience throughout the world.

Canstruction features colossal works of art made from thousands of cans of food. This yearly endeavor kicks off Operation Feed, the annual push to fill area food pantries sponsored by the Mid Ohio Food Bank. We follow local architects and engineers as they compete to build gigantic reptiles out of macroni boxes, pasta sauce and tuna fish cans in honor of COSI's Go Wild! Reptile exhibit (COSI hosted this years event).

The King Arts Complex is the 2006 winner of the Greater Columbus Art Councils Artistic Excellence Award for their permanent installation - the Middle Passage. We were there from the beginning of the installation and are proud to showcase this tremendous achievement in an encore presentation.
