Casino Developers to Bypass City Water?

Casino developers want permission to drill wells that would free them from relying on Columbus' water lines. Wells would take Columbus' key bargaining chip - water service - off the table as city leaders seek to annex the casino site, now in Franklin Township near W. Broad Street and I-270.

Gov.-elect John Kasich today tapped Jerry Wray, who led the Ohio Department of Transportation for eight years under former Republican Gov. George V. Voinovich, to be his state transportation director.

Kasich said he supports Attorney General-elect Mike DeWine's plan to join other state attorneys general in challenging the new federal health care law. Kasich said he will leave that fight to DeWine, unlike governors in a handful of other states who are taking a more active role in resisting implementation of the health care bill.
