Figurative language is everywhere.

But what makes a metaphor and how are they different from idioms? This rollercoaster of figurative speech has become a tangled web despite lessons learned in elementary school.

Whether understanding figurative speech seems like a piece of cake or an uphill battle, some phrases are easier to discern than others.
