Description
Just days after the resounding defeat of Issue 1, a full-blown battle over abortion rights is ramping up.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a staunch opponent of abortion access, last week said it's too late to try to change state law on that issue. So, he said, the only option is to defeat a November 7 ballot issue that seeks to enshrine abortion rights in the Ohio constitution.

Currently, a six-week ban on abortions is on hold, but the Republican-majority Ohio Supreme Court has now set a date in late September to hear oral arguments in that case.

Meanwhile, abortion rights advocates are hoping the high voter turnout and rejection of Issue One will translate into yes votes to enshrine abortion and reproductive rights into the state's constitution.
