Description
Athletes are viewed as some of the healthiest people in our society.

Yet studies show some athletes, especially basketball players, are the most at risk of suffering from sudden cardiac arrest.

And when heart issues come up in young athletes such as LeBron James' 18-year-old son Bronny… and 25-year-old Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin… there are a lot of added questions.

Coming up on Wellness Wednesday we'll discuss how cardiac arrest differs from a heart attack.

Later in the program, as athletic events involving alcohol have gained in popularity we'll address the effect alcohol has on exercise.

Then, we'll discover the science behind aromatherapy.

Host:

Amy Juravich, 89.7 NPR News Midday Host and assistant program director

Guests:

Kanny Grewal, a cardiologist with OhioHealth
Jennifer Sacheck, professor of prevention and wellness and chair of exercise and nutrition sciences at George Washington University
Marian Reven, clinical education assistant professor at West Virginia University
