In March, The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio unanimously voted to approve plans that guaranteed profits for American Electric Power and FirstEnergy.
While the energy companies have promised the plans would ensure an adequate energy supply and save consumers money, critics are claiming the opposite would be true. Now, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has stopped the deal, stating that the plans required their approval.
