All Sides with Ann Fisher

Description
Students in Ohio and around the country are sharpening their pencils and darkening the ovals on answer sheets as end-of-the-year assessment tests are administered. These exams are designed to gauge the progress of both students and teachers, but critics believe that preparing for these tests negatively impacts the quality of education. This hour, we hear from one parent whose child wont be participating and weigh the value of testing in our schools.

Guests:

Nicole Kraft, parent

Austin Channell, student and TEDxColumbus speaker

Bob Schaeffer, Public Education Director, the National Center for Fair and Open Testing

Aaron Churchill, Research & Data Analyst, Fordham Institute
