The police shooting death of 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant last week raised questions across the country about how law enforcement officers are trained to respond in such cases.

The Columbus Division of Police with uncharacteristic speed released the body camera footage of the tragedy. And most experts say that, under the current legal standard, the shooting likely was permissible.

But activists say that doesn't mean the response was necessary, and that if training and policy result in the death of a teenage girl then the system has failed.
