Description
The world's first openly gay men's chorus was founded in San Francisco after Harvey Milk, a gay San Franciscan councilman, was assassinated. Over time, gay and lesbian choruses spread throughout America as the LGBTQ community faced the challenges of oppression, discrimination and the life-threatening disease AIDS.

Coming up next, we are discussing the impact of gay men's choruses in the history of LGBTQ Pride.

Guests:
Tim Seelig, artistic director, The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus
Doug Althauser, founding member, The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus
Doug Motz, board president, The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus
Karla Rothan, executive director, Stonewall Columbus

Events:
The Lincoln Theatre presents "Jackson 5+" with The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus from June 23rd to June 25th.

Stonewall Columbus hosts The Columbus Pride Parade and Festival at Bicentennial and Genoa Park, from June 16th to June 17th.
