Description
The Ohio Constitution grants communities the right of home-rule, the power and flexibility to pass their own laws. But a number of times, the state legislature has passed laws overriding local ones. Which law prevails? In most cases, the Ohio Supreme Court has sided with the state. We'll dig into the issue of home rule this hour and we welcome your input. Later, opponents of HB6, the nuclear bailout bill, won't hit the petition deadline for a November referendum. What's next? And Nick Castele updates us on the opioid suit settlement reached just before a trial by Summit and Cuyahoga Counties in Federal Court. Finally, our arts team explores a new exhibit of the work of painter Frank Wilcox .

Guests:
Kent Scarrett, Executive Director, Ohio Municipal League

Trevor Elkins, Mayor, Newburgh Heights

Karen Kasler, Statehouse News Bureau Chief, Ohio Public Radio/TV

Nick Castele, Reporter, Ideastream

Henry Adams, Art Historian

Marianne Berardi, Art Historian
