Description
Defibrillator panels. Heart by-pass surgery. Dye tests to help doctors see blockages. These are standard critical tools used to save the lives of heart patients. Those devices and procedures were all either discovered or perfected here in Cleveland through the work of pioneering doctors. These medical advances put the city's hospitals on the map and spurred a surge in medical development that is still ongoing.

Dr. William Lewis, Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Heart and Vascular Center, The MetroHealth System

Karl West, M.S., Director Medical Device Solutions, Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute

Karen Kasler, Ohio Statehouse News Bureau Chief
